Why do you think that you could represent the Minetest community? +1 Considering hoodedice made an ass of himself handling that globeminner thing, he's probably the last guy you want doing PR. Second, why even involve politics? A) that's bad marketing B) a lot of people equate communism with shitty...

I wouldn't sweat it too much, voxel games in general are on the way out. Even slashdot doesn't talk about Minecraft much anymore.

the updatelistener warning is from a sound function , the invalid value is the position which is inf on one of the axes. So something, somewhere is doing some weird math on your position, throwing people off the map and causing updatelistener to flood the log/chat. I wonder if this bug started happe...

Chill, this ain't a labor camp. People are allowed to post something other than bug reports or technical suggestions, and no one's forcing you to read any of it. The way some people act, I'm not surprised MC's community is much larger despite MT's 0$ price tag.

It means the client who tried to connect is too old for your server. Though I think the strict message means you have strict_protocol_version_checking on.

When it comes to bumping old mods, old TPs and old maps, well that just demonstrates that there's still interes...

I've seen how overrun servers can be with new players who have neither clue nor control nor the desire/capabilities to make the world nicer, and it was quite bad on your last server. That's the way MT is setup. I can't see a player's client or lag, I can't share ban lists and we have no way of auth...

Well it's an island map, the whole point is to make use of limited land (or use the seabed/underground). I don't want sparse development far apart, I want to be able to link the whole thing with bridges and roads and tunnels :-) And I can't have people wandering off long distances because every time...

I'm not entirely sure scolding newbies for asking honest questions is the best way to attract and retain new players for MT. Might be more worthwhile to simply ask moderators to archive old threads as most forums do :-)

well my idea was not to pre-generate areas, but to prevent random players from generating several chunks for nothing. That way, they'd be limited to making use of what's already there, and the admins/moderators of the server could be charged with generating more map as the need arises :-) Simple map...

I don't see how just adding capes is an improvement. Now, if we could use different player models and have some in-game facility for changing them like we do with skins, i'd call that an improvement :-)

I kinda wish Minetest had an 'explore' or 'generate' privilege where players who don't have it can't provoke ongen and venture out of generated areas :-)

Could you toughen up obsidian glass so it's not so easy to break as normal glass, the lag on some servers allow people to break normal glass and get into your home when using a protection mod, tougher obsidian glass would stop this from happening in the game... Thx :) The failure belongs to protect...

Well I was hoping to hold on to the last server longer than a week, but you know how people are :P 5K player files, 3x in landclaims pretty much destroyed performance and corrupted the map :/ There's also the problem with lag in my last space game, I had pretty much worked out the resource tree and ...

Yep and there will be shadow glitches too, due to MT's simple lighting system. It seems that stacked realms will be eventually included in default mapgen v7 Like that thing I tried to do with moonrealm and multiple alien realms? Multiplayer just killed it last time, hopefully v7 ill be faster :-) F...

I still hope you will make a space game and server in future. That could be a bit tricky, my strongest computer can only run one server at a time, the other two can barely handle the client :/ Though i might be able to incorporate moonrealm or some alienized version of paragen into the present map,...

Im not terribly surprised that 5K user files translates into less than half a dozen requests :p

In any case i'll set this server up on a tourist basis first. My wife suggested setting up an area/realm/map where people can try out for build rights, I'll probably do that :-)

I never said they were SuperMen. It's just that MT's code is much more thoroughly checked before merging.
