Server will be offline tonight for several hours, starting at around 10:45pm (EDT), due to inclement weather in the area. It'll be brought back up as soon at the weather clears and I wake up. :-)

I like your restart script but, how do you close your server cleanly when running this?

If it crashes, it bounces back up, else, she can type /shutdown and it will restart.

I got my lazy butt out of bed, the weather has cleared and the server is back online now. :-)

When I need to shut the server down cleanly, I kill the script from a command-line and let the server shut down gracefully. If I need to just restart, I do as Traxie said.

quite a lot of server shut downs for an evening...
oh well ... dug a cavern, build a cottage ... found out I did not need to mine for resources and craft stuff ... poor tree. Had lots of fun and enjoyed wonderfull views of beautifull landscapes.

Yeah, it was due to a bug in how PilzAdam's builtin_item and RealBadAngel's technic mods interact, plus I've been updating mods and restarting the server a lot. Normally it's a lot more stable than it was tonight. In the meantime, I've removed builtin_item - technic (indev branch) covers its functionality now.

I'd like to experiment with winding paths clinging to rough terrain, so rather gravel, cobblestone and pavement than asphalt. Is that ok?
Besides from that, are the stone type slabs and stairs disabled or have I just missed them?

And now a completly different question: Do all avatars display their name at all times? I just saw someone with no name and somewhat out of scale.

I'm sure Vanessa will have no objection against your project. The server has plants and moretrees, so there is a lot of scenery worth seeing.

What you encountered and thought was an avatar most likely was one of the peaceful npc from Jojoas peaceful_npc mod. They roam around and seek the (extremly close) company of players at night. Those mobs come in diffrent size.

Build whatever you want :-) Just keep it sane of course.

All stairs and slabs (whether stone or not) are obtained by cutting the appropriate material on a table ("circular") saw.

Note that Calinou is working on rewriting moreblocks/stairsplus to properly use the new "6d facedir" code, which will necessitate changes in what items appear to be available from the table saw, and changes in how the game decides whether a stair/slab is, say, upside down (these would probably work like they did in the default minetest_game, by placing onto a ceiling, but using only one node instead of two, etc). So, expect changes soon.

Nope: canceled now. You can use screwdriver, crafting grid or placing on ceilings to flip Stairs+ nodes.

Nice an update of the pixelmap. Been to the grey square area in the southeast quadrant. Seems there is nothing there.
Noticed the roofs of my buildings in the north dont show.
I thought the structures at the Ringroad Southern junction were older than the map update?

The grey square was just because a block above it hadn't generated yet - as soon as you visited the area, it fixed itself.

What are the roofs of the affected buildings made of?

The structures at the south end are showing up on the map now - I just had to re-run the mapper tool to get a current image.
