Looking for a host

by Ragnar » Sat Feb 01, 2014 09:23

So I'm looking for a free/cheap server host.
Does anybody know any hosts like that?
I would just want to host a MT server there with some mods. :)
Are you saying that I put an abnormal brain into a seven and a half foot long, fifty-four inch wide GORILLA?

Well, out there are some unpopular/old/inactive servers. Try to contact them instead of buying.

Well, BuyVM does look pretty cheap... :D
Thanks for that...
Now another question comes up: How much ram will the server need to let 10 players play without the server lagging?

With MT-vanilla game, it would need less than with mesecons and mobs.
My (little) server takes about 64 MB of RAM, with 10 players.

I'm making a small mod for currency and foods too... So if i would add those there too, then 128MB would do it?
And how much Bandwidth would i need? And what OS: Ubuntu, Debian or CentOS (What takes less resources)?

128MB ram insufficient to run a decent minetest server with 10 players. I would recommend to at least have 512MB .
I am CWz on the following servers: Bluelobster, turtletango, VanessaE's servers, linuxgaming, redcrab, Silvercrab, ChainLynx, lord of the test server. If you see CWz on server other then those then chances are it's a Fake. you can contact me on irc.freenode.net or by PM if you are not sure
