Mod wont work, I even got the plants lib. It says theres an error with the Lua file.

That error description doesn't help us. Please quote the exact error message you get.

Rename the mod folder to "peaceful_npc"

Did you make sure the mod is enabled? Sometimes mods get disabled when you change their name.

Just got this mod to work and lemme say this; Its the best mod ever. All sorts of charachters, Im not always gonna get the same guy like in npcf AND they look like they came straight outta a wierd RPG. Well done.
EDIT 1: Can they open doors and go up ladders? That would be cool.
EDIT 2: I'm building a hotel populated with these guys and I was wondering why it seems like they keep dissappearing from their hotel rooms. I locked them up (closed the door behind them) too. This happens sometimes with NPCF but I think its because they can somehow jump over two-block-high balcony railing (fences).

Default NPCs dissappear. Havent tried fast or dwarfs yet but the Default NPCs will dissappear if you turn your back on them for ten seconds. Also they can go through you.
EDIT: I got them to work but now they can push me away. Like once I was in the second story of my house. This guy pushed me so hard I got stuck in a glass node! I had to bust the window and jump! Could you make the NPCs go only 1 block away from you? I find it extremely hard to move. Also, they dont follow you simply all night, its midnight til noon. Could you change that or is that how its suposed to be?

Just a small update. It is now using biome_lib instead of plants_lib.
Coding;

hi! really nice mod! I would like to try to make NPC's to manage state, you know, talk to the user when clicked instead of the default behaviour of receiving damage. Wonder if there are some guidelines around that, perhaps a forked version of this mod?

The esmobs tell the player their name and intention when right-clicking them. It's not much, and they've only got one sentence each, but it's a start. There's also a mobtalker mod. None of that seems to be widely used so far. There's a lot of room for development in that direction. More talkative mobs would be fine.

As the liscence seems to be WTFPL, you may well do that. But the best idea would be to fix the original repro, to create a pull request to peacful_npc on github and/or to contact jojoa1997 so that the main version gets fixed :-)

advanced npc is trying to achieve that but instead of punching you will need rightclick you will also need mobs redo https://github.com/hkzorman/advanced_npc

Mobs that are punched are beeing attacked by the player and would usually suffer damage. The normal way to interact is to right-click them. The traders from my mobf_trader mod react to punching by self-healing, complaining to the player about the attack and offering their trade goods. Just take a look at the code and search for on_punch.

Yes that is correct. I'm working on a new NPC mod called advanced_npc. It is not quite there where I would want it but already supports speaking to NPCs via right-click.

Considering the way interaction is done on Minetest, for example, you use objects using right click (like opening a chest), I think a player should interact with NPCs by right click as well.

Awesome! I am implementing these in with elementary school children and the admin want a violence-less environment... surprisingly, the kids don't seem to mind so long as they can build...
