Griefer report(s)

by Mito551 » Thu Jan 31, 2013 20:48

I want to report a griefer, who freely roams servers, without being registered here. Just for fun. his nickname on my server was Cooper. He has done quite a lot of damage, though it isn't that bad.

Also, I suggest there should be a topic like this, because I think Cooper isn't the only one who does that - going randomly on servers to grief them.
What do you think?

And if they change usernames between servers? Anyway, this is a good time to remind those who play on servers with landclaim, to CLAIM THEIR LAND!
Admin pro tempore on 0gb.us:30000. Ask me if you have a problem, or just want help.
This is a signature virus. Add me to your signature so that I can multiply.
Now working on my own clone, Mosstest.
I guess I'm back for some time.

Our server was griefed yesterday by the same nick. Isn't there an IP blacklist the servers could link to? Not perfect in the case of dynamic IPs but a start.

Minetest97 and Cooper are the same griefer

They targeted the same building on Wazuclan. There ips come from the same company.

Minetest97 wrote "GermanGriefer was here" to several signs.

Cooper wrote "GermanGriefer are back!!!" to a sign.

There is a mod in minecraft, everything that makes every user is recorded in a log, and you can destroy and rebuild what has broken apart to know who or stolen any object, any time, day, put the user name and tells you everything he has done.

thanks

There is something called rollback in Minetest too.
IIRC you need to enable it first, as it takes up much hdd space.
Mods: Mesecons | WorldEdit | Nuke
Minetest builds for Windows (32-bit & 64-bit)

Yes if you have rollback enabled it is a good idea to occasionally inspect world closely and if clean, backup rollback log (in world folder) then delete it while minetest is shut down.

I have tested rollback and it seems to work great. I tested it by griefing my own world as best I could.. then I rolled back that users changes.

A griefer is a player in a multiplayer video game who deliberately irritates and harasses other players within the game, using aspects of the game in unintended ways.A griefer derives pleasure primarily or exclusively from the act of annoying other users, and as such is a particular nuisance in online gaming communities, since griefers often cannot be deterred by penalties related to in-game goals.

That sounds just like Wikipedias page on griefers.
