There is a tool called minetestmapper.py included in the minetest sources (util/ directory) that can generate those. You need python, python-imglib or whatever and knowledge how to run python scripts on command line to use it. (also, it is not compatible with 0.4 currently.)

Have seen this before. My guess is that you have an old Athlon XP processor that does not support the SSE2 instruction set and Irrlicht or Minetest or... well, something has been built with SSE2 enabled.

But it will split up the small community even more.

I agree and hope that all who can speak english even a bit will continue using this forum, in english.

Minecraft is special because it has been made in Java, which allows very easy replacing of parts of the code, without any work towards supporting it by the original developer.

C++, on the other hand, requires careful planning and much work to allow similar things. Everything has downsides.

Do it on the server side. Look at the fireball code in content_sao.cpp (or something like that).

See this if you wish your work to be included: http://c55.me/minetest/wiki/doku.php?id=contrib&#how_to_get_your_code_into_minetest-c55

I am probably not going to set one up, but if somebody else wants to, feel free to create a new wiki with multiple languages. If it contains the english stuff too, then my wiki will be left only to serve the developers. If somebody sets that up, you need to prepare for keeping it up for the foreseea...

Ack.

Though this cannot be done exactly, as the server checks a network protocol version, not the program version. But the server could tell the version of itself, which could help considerably.

The language of this forum is english. It is written in the rules, too, to which you have agreed.

Shall I remove your comments? It would be nice to see a summary of them in english, though, so I'll leave some time for you to do that.

Ask me before messing up too much in the wiki.

I think the wiki is fairly well organized already, so you need to explain well what you think needs to be done.

celeron55's development server

I just got my lazy ass of the chair and picked up an old laptop and compiled the minetest server on it. Compling actually took more than an hour 8). It's running on c55.me port 30000 now again. I didn't move the old world onto it. New players may only build in the "free-build" area which is anywhere...

Minetest anniversary

The first release of Minetest was released 2010-10-08 on a random finnish IRC channel, exactly a year ago. Just thought to note that. EDIT: You can find some of the oldest versions here: http://test.mine.bz/~celeron55/random/2010-10/old/ The oldest in existance is http://test.mine.bz/~celeron55/rand...

Once again one of the times when debug.txt is totally useless... It's probably a segmentation fault or some kind of a lost exception or something. Really the only way to find out is to build a debug build of the game and run it in gdb.

The textures are just files in the data directory. Just edit or replace them and make a zip/whatever package containing the new ones.

About the new release (0.2.20110922)

Yesterday Minetest-c55 0.2.20110922 was released - a bit hastily, but anyway. What I'd like to hear from you is how well it is working on Windows, Linux, or whatever you are using. In addition to everything, this is due to the fact that it now uses SQLite for bulk world data storage. Because the Win...

This happens elsewhere too; it happens due to the fact that the game doesn't update the mesh (geometry, which includes brightness values) always when the neighboring chunk of stuff is loaded. This has been chosen partly because it isn't needed with non-smooth lighting (which was the only option unti...

This is a VERY odd bug and it cannot really be fixed as such. It might be a bug in Irrlicht too, but nobody can tell.

I have heard about this once before, in the whole year of Minetest development. So we have two cases now.
