You seem to consider the "core team" to be some oddly distant thing. And because of that, you want to work around the core team. I consider this ridiculous and irresponsible. The core team is just a bunch of more or less experienced members of the community who want to give their input and time to t...

This is bad, overly restrictive and VERY FAR from any kind of FOSS thing. Nothing under these licenses would be allowed to be released on this forum. Also, it is VERY GOOD practice to use existing licenses, because people understand them, they have been written by people who understand law and they ...

Ehm. 1 and 2 are already done. At least in some applicable way. The factual basis of the whole post is kind of nonexistent. EDIT: The simple combination-tiling of faces does not give much more performance though; it'd need to be much more advanced than it currently is, and in non-flat or inside surf...

Both Blockmans and Gambits versions look good. But I'm a radical minimalist, so I like the current website most. It could need updated screenshots through. (Maybe with mods and different texturepacks, because thats what minetest is good at.) Well, why don't you go find good updated screenshots for ...

I had my go on a redesign awhile ago. The Minetest logo was made by dakal, I only did a minor tweak of it but full credit should still belong to him. There are too many stacked layers on this, squeezing the content to an unnecessarily small area. Also, it's hard to see what the focus of the page is...

The (somewhat crappy) current minetest.net source code is available here: https://github.com/celeron55/minetest.net_php There are probably three ways of doing this; either you'll just throw the raw graphics in here and maybe me or rubenwardy will code the layout, or you'll implement a template-ish v...

I'm ok with changing the site's layout to the one with the new stone themed title.

It needs a variation of the design for the other pages though, with the title much smaller and the subpage title visible, to make them focus on the content.

Hmm... I think the grey one looks too bland, and the full mese one looks too bright. Do you think there is a way to do something in neither extreme?

However nice it is, I can't really accept a logo text that is so similar to MC's on the site. Unless there is proof that it already is a commonly used style and not unique at all to MC. (note: already replaced in the original post) Otherwise, I must say this is somewhat tasteful. That particular whi...

If anyone ever organizes any away-from-the-keyboard meeting of some Minetest people somewhere, talking about mese is sure going to be very odd. It was never meant to become anything aside from a joke between a bunch of Finnish programmers. 8) However sometimes I pronounce it like two separate words:...

I'm guessing this is too new for Minetest to use but it seems really cool. Does anyone know if minetest uses C++11 and smart pointers? Minetest uses smart pointers for a small amount of things, but not those found in C++11. It has it's own implementation. Most of the time they aren't worth using th...

It used to be ±30976 -- since the new map generation was introduced (march 2012), it is ±30912. The theorical map limit is 32768, but it was intentionally reduced to prevent crashes related to high view distances (as far as I know). It is limited in order to not have to implement performance-eating...

This exists: https://github.com/TeddyDesTodes/minetest/commits/weather

It would need to be rebased to the current version, and it needs to have some kind of configuration/api somehow. Also it should be synced between server and clients, as it isn't yet IIRC.

I find these mainly ridiculous, because of a variety of reasons. Here's two: The first one is, people seem to expect that the community of a completely free game would be somehow exceptionally good. Or even on par with communities of big commercial games that are guided by paid people. No. Of course...

Exactly. If all goes perfectly, getting a release fully out takes a bit less than an hour from the decision to do it.

That sometimes happens on my 950GM too. I think it is some kind of a problem in the linux drivers of that thing. Or it might be some kind of an overheat-related thing. Dunno.

Could be useful to report to the intel driver maintainers, but I'm too lazy to do that.
