Re: Block info on hud?

What function returns the pointed node? I searched the API docs, and can't find it.

Re: Idea: Blueprints/Construction plans

You say that you don't need to change the default behavior of the crafting grid, but then go on to say that "what is not implemented is wear for items used that way." So, in other words, do need to change it. I still think that having a separate inventory slot for crafting accessories that...

Re: Block info on hud?

I was looking for a permanent info display of the node I am pointing to. Permanent, not craftable, and without any mouse clicking. I don't think what you are describing is even possible because to my knowledge server-side mods can only obtain the position of the pointed node by means of a callback ...

Re: Why Minetest? What do we test?

Now for real: I don't know why it is called “Mine test ”. I was always under the impression that the Minetest moniker was chosen because Celeron55 created the engine as a proof of concept initially (i.e. Is it possible to develop an open-source clone of Minecraft?), never intending it to actually e...

Re: Idea: Blueprints/Construction plans

Perhaps you could include a separate inventory slot to the left of the crafting grid where blueprints are to be placed. I think that might be more intuitive than changing the default behavior of the crafting grid itself.

Re: Post interesting mapgen settings here

These are only the mapgen settings, which are found in map_meta.txt. To configure biomes, you have to edit mapgen.lua.

Re: Post interesting mapgen settings here

It's pretty easy to generate alien-looking landscapes in Minetest. What is far more challenging is tweaking the noise parameters to produce less extreme terrain that is suitable for both general purpose building and exploring. So this past December, after several days of trial and error, I arrived a...

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

I just want to clear up some lingering confusion about the guidelines for new and existing land claims within spawntown. There are no prohibitions regarding cobblestone buildings, nor do I have any immediate plans to condemn cobblestone buildings. Citations are issued in cases where properties are &...

Re: Are there any plans in extending the world size?

You'd be surprised at how many players are into digging thousands and thousands of nodes deep. I'm not sure as a server owner if I'd want to do daily backups of a map.sqlite file that is outrageously large. Perhaps the world limits could be increased, but it should be an option.

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

Was just on this server, and I ran out of food and died of hunger as I'm just getting started. So anyways, I die of hunger, and I get sent to jail! Seriously, WTH! Anyways, it seems as though something is messed up. Sorry about that. In the process of trying to fix the beds mod, I broke the respawn...

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

You can move that sky building to another place. Sorry, I forgot to mention that the owners are opposed to moving. It's possible they will leave the server, so that could end up being a wasted effort. Hence the dilemma. You really need to update the server to 0.4.15... Don't hold it too much. Minet...

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

http://i.imgur.com/kHZ8Brq.png I think it's time to address the situation with the sky city. It's overtaking numerous buildings and roadways, and eliciting complaints from players. Re: Quick move of items in inventory?

On my server I have "Get Items" and "Put Items" buttons in the formspecs of most containers. It makes transferring inventory to and from chests, mailboxes, bookshelves, and bones extremely quick. It's esp. helpful for tablet and phone users. http://i.imgur.com/IDptoWY.png

Thanks for the heads up Wuzzy. I didn't realize those items were incompatible with the itemframes mod. I think TenPlus has the right solution. I'll get the fix in place on the JT2 server.

Re: Why Minetest? What do we test?

The Minetest name has already acquired fairly substantial mind-share over the course of several years, so changing it now would probably do more harm than good at least in the short term. As someone with familiarity in branding, I personally have not heard any good proposals for a new name either. I...

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

Just a few quick updates. I reduced the rate of hunger and increased the fresh time of bones. That should make survival a bit easier. I also raised the satiation level of bread and apples. And by popular request, I'm going to add watermelon and pumpkins as edibles as well. So expect more variety whe...

Re: Edit signs without interact priv?!?

Were the signs protected? Afaik, the formspects for default signs use client-side prediction. And validation of that form doesn't occur until submission. And at least in 0.4.14, there is no check for privileges only protection (see below). I imagine this bug also affects unlocked chests and bookshel...

Re: Players disconnected if max_objects_per_block exceeded?!

Thanks for the clarification TenPlus1. I wasn't sure how the signs_lib mod actually worked. It makes sense that the text must overlay the node, and that's only possible with an entity. Those could add up very quickly.

Re: Server-Password and individual Player-Password?

Hmm perhaps this is an idea for a mod. As soon as a player logs in (via the builtin authentication mechanism), then a fullscreen formspec appears asking them to enter a master server password. If they fail to enter the correct password or they try to escape out of the formspec, then they will not be...
