Re: Share Your WorldEdit Files!

An abandoned castle keep. And a question. Is there a "simple" mod for spawning we or mts files in new worlds? I've been searching but can only find mentions and code snippets, no actual mod. https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=4887&sid=19f7c4f1b74c371f91808fc1...

Re: Maze

How about an Adventure Maze? The maze is now a dangerous place, you should prepare yourself before entering. https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=4490&sid=e7b5c132d5f0969569d9a05d8e5ba5b4 The prize in the centre is worth it. https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?m...

Re: Maze

thanks for the suggestion Minetestforfun, but I just use worldedit - set nodes = air It's actually a layer 1 block thick of no nodes, set nodes air fixes it. You occasionally come across single nodes like this when flying at height 14 or 15, you run into something that stops you and your hand goes d...

Re: Maze

Sorry about that last screenshot, I thought people would be more interested in the method rather than the map itself. I've been playing around with this a bit for a friend with kids. Here's another one, this isn't a finished map for playing. I've added it for the developer's interests because it hig...

Maze

I didn't design this maze, it comes from Wiki under a creative commons license. Using Imageloader and Worldedit this only took a very short time to create. The only trees in the world are part of the treasure to be found in the centre. https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=44...

Re: Tropical Living

Just some specs because a couple of you have downloaded it. It might not look it but this building will withstand category 5 cyclones. The narrow posts around the outside of the building are 150 mm X 75 mm galvanised box section 4 mm thick. The thicker posts around the main living area are only 100 ...

A Good Head Start

This one should keep the "purists" happy. I actually played it the hard way, No Flying, Almost Dying. No cheats. You start in a decent and secure workshop. Out the front door is a house, unfurnished. And a large wheat farm, bread is good. Mines are established but much is not explored yet....

Re: Tropical Living

Just a side note that might give someone a laugh. We're one of those strange little communities that has slipped through the cracks. 15 years ago it was a recent development and still didn't have a local council. Some bright spark in government came up with the idea that because the Northern Territo...

Tropical Living

This is actually my house without the roof. It took 2 of us 28 days to build and cost around $5000. That's tiny little Australian dollars, not those big shiny Yankee ones. And $3000 of that was 170 meters of underground power line and water pipe. That was brand new, the rest of it is mostly second h...

Thanks for the replies, SwordPaint12. I was starting to believe that I was invisible. One of my Pride and Joys was Big Castle, more than 80 people have downloaded it and no one said a word. Dwarf Mines (start)

I hear that Dwarves like pretty things. (deezl) This is the start of a new map, still getting the layout sorted. Thought an enterprising young Dwarf might like to have a play with it. You start in a safe clean workshop. https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=3865&sid=8c9ac...

Re: Compiling Minetest On Fedora 17

just a quick helpful tip about the older fedora's, sudo works just fine in the newer ones. there are often permissions issues when user's programs are installed as root which is why the sudo command is so important. To get around this in the older Fedoras you could use su -c "whatever commands ...

Re: Angkor Wat floor plan

Thanks for the reply Sokomine. You're exactly right about the photos, fortunately there's a fair bit of aerial photography for this one which helps. Then there's the bonus that once I get a few sections worked out properly WorldEdit will come in to it's own and cut the build time dramatically. Right...

Re: Angkor Wat floor plan

The numbers all add up. Posting it now before it gets too big. Everything lines up how it should. The floor heights might be inaccurate but I have little choice over the angle of the stairs, the floor heights fit how far out the stairs come from the wall. Useful either to build Angkor Wat or to use ...

Re: Angkor Wat floor plan

Once I started mapping it out myself things got a lot better. The gates are lining up with each other. The bases for the towers are now square, this is rather important if you want to have a perfect circle on top of it. All the pillars line up properly how you see them in photos and appear to make m...

Re: Angkor Wat floor plan

And I'm back to square 1 again. I was having trouble with symmetry again, to help find a solution I tried superimposing a copy of the floor plan over the top of a sattelite photo and it doesn't fit. No matter how you stretch it around if you get some areas to fit others won't. In conclusion that flo...

Re: Need help for administrate server under ssh on linux

Just thought I'd put some thoughts in. RAM 4Gb DDR3-1060 4 Gb of RAM is nothing these days, bare minimum (optimal) for many operating systems. Also the RAM is only 1066 Mhz speed. If your motherboard and processor can run it, get 16 Gb of RAM running at least at 1600 Mhz. Faster is better. Then you ...

Re: Angkor Wat floor plan

OK. This is the last updated map I'm going to be able to post because of file size. By the time it's finished I'll be lucky if I can fit it on a DVD. As you can see in the picture I've got the sizes, dimensions and ratios mostly worked out, just a little more tweaking should make it right. Interesti...

Re: Angkor Wat floor plan

For now I'm going to assume that the thicker lines of the building walls are drawn accurately. (I know they're not because of the failed symmetry) If so then I think this is a more faithful representation. https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=3103&sid=8c814137d649b7b3f78...

Re: Angkor Wat floor plan

This is probably the best way to show the scale of the buildings, and the scale of the project I've taken on. It also demonstrates the inaccuracy of the floor plan. https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=3101&sid=8c814137d649b7b3f788a69c69f1aed8 https://forum.minetest.net/...

Re: Angkor Wat floor plan

A layout of that size would be a nightmare pulling off while being accurate manually. My thoughts exactly, once I'd started. Thank god for Kaeza and his mod. But this is going to be even bigger than I thought, the scale works out to be about 1 block per cubic foot, not cubic meter. Should be able t...

Re: Angkor Wat floor plan

I had an even better idea and used the ImageLoader mod. It works but it gave me a few problems, probably because it's such a large area. Angkor Wat floor plan

After brutalising Angkor Wat to make my pussy temple I decided to have a go at making a copy of the thing properly. This is going to be a massive project and it's going to take me a long time to finish, if I finish it. So far all I've done is the floor plan of the inner/upper citadel but I thought s...
