Any recent (==a couple weeks old or less) dev build from sfan5 or Kroc or any of the other usual sources should be fine. 0.4.12 should be out fairly soon.

Anybody else with an already existing world ever witnessed strange behaviour of jungletrees after loading this mod?

I have a problem like that on my server, jungle tree trunks left hanging in the air, it looks something like this:

All the mods are updated, and minetestserver is at the latest version (0.4.12 at the time of writing).

Hello,

Pine trees are spawning under the sea with the lastest ethereal mod, I was forced to disable them. Is it a known issue ?

I couldn't say for sure. I've never heard of that happening before, but I've also never tested moretrees with that mod before.

Multiple times, I have placed a sapling in a flower pot or on a non-dirt surface, only to come back and find that my house is covered in leaves!

I thought I saw somewhere in here that saplings can be created from leaves and twigs. Does anyone know if I am mistaken or can point me into a mod that shows reverse recipe, like leaves can be used for what? I think unified_inventory does it, but craft_guide and unified_inventory don't always show reverse builds.

I think is was leaves and sticks to make saplings, its been a while since I checked both of the craft guides I use (Zeg's Craft Guide and the wall place-able Craft Guide).

Leaves are used in several crafting recipes based on what mods you are running, so its kind of a pain to search through the source code in each mod to find a specific recipe.

Also make sure you are using leaves from the same group or tree type when crafting.

Moretrees does not have any such recipes to craft saplings from leaves+sticks.

OK, then that recipe is located somewhere in one of the other mods I run, just hard to figure out which one since I have quite a few mods. (The sapling one could be from Plantlife, since I run it with MoreTrees)

Because I have so many mods, its the main reason I have the craft guide ones, there is no way to remember all those crafting recipes.

Is there any way to have moretrees populate an area I'm currently in?

It's populating far away lands that I've visited (Marco Polo style), but I'd like it to spawn trees and what-not where I'm building at the moment.

Aside from planting saplings, the only other way I know of is to walk into an area and `/deleteblock here`, which will delete the mapblock you're in entirely, forcing the engine to re-generate it along with all the foliage that should be there, including trees.

Is there a way to make the trees grow quickly when planted. I tried to create a wood by planting saplings, but when I came back something (cavegen ??) had chopped holes in the trees.
Also it's difficult to know how closely to plant them until they've grown, and it's a pain to wait overnight for the saplings to grow.
Also is it possible to define the maximum size of the trees on a case-by-case basis - I'd really like a few gigantic ones, and a variety of smallish ones.
Finally is it possible to grow hedges?
Sorry if these questions have been mentioned in the previous 300 posts, I did skim through, but didn't see anything - an 'index' of subtopics in the first post would really help...

There are "_ongen" saplings you can give yourself - e.g. moretrees:acacia_sapling_ongen - which will grow aboutr 10-20 seconds after planting. And yeah, it's the cavegen doing that to the trees - I think this has to do with the is_ground_content node def option (which is set to "true" for trunks and planks, but not leaves).

It is not possible to define a maximum size case-by-case, but it might be possible to make them vary in height randomly.

It is not possible to grow "hedges" with this mod, but gloopblocks has nodes for that, which are crafted from sticks and leaves.

Thanks for this awesome Mod, Looks almost like i´m in a Dreamworld when using this mod with v7 Mapgen the one that creates floating islands in the sky.

Update: This mod now uses the default acacia and default pine nodes for its versions of these trees. Users may need to update minetest_game to accommodate. Engine updates may also be needed.

Just wondering if someone could make a smaller version of this mod to make it more server friendly? As in make the trees around the same size as default trees or at least a reasonable size because with the current size make your feel like a ant in a world made for giants and cutting these trees is impossible unless you are running technic with a chainsaw or tree decapitator. If someone was to try to cut these trees with out such mods most of the times it ends up with half cut and floating trees which can ruin the natural feel.

Update: Plantlife modpack no longer supplies plants_lib. Instead, that mod has been split-off into its own repository and renamed to "biome_lib".

Therefore, Moretrees now depends on it instead of the previously-embedded copy. The newly-coined mod can be found here: https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=12999

Update: This mod now uses default nodes wherever possible: jungle tree sapling, trunk and leaves (green; red and yellow are still separate), pine sapling, trunk and needles, and acacia sapling, trunk and leaves.

The regular saplings for those three trees will grow randomly into either their default models as seen in a basic Minetest install with jungles enabled, or their Moretrees counterparts (at least, they should!). Note that the "_ongen" saplings always grow into the Moretrees versions of these trees.

Plantlife modpack also required a small update in its trunks and woodsoils components to account for this change.

Another update: finally made birch, spruce, fir, and the Moretrees versions of jungle trees work again! Also, changed the biome def for those jungle trees to use the same settings as plantlife's giant ferns.

This mod now uses the engine/game's default leaf decay code for all of its leaves.

In the process, I turned the radius for palm leaves down to 10 (from 15). If you have a moretrees_settings.txt in your world folder, delete it. It will not be recreated, so if you have a custom setting you want to keep, copy and paste as needed.

Is there a way to add a craft item to the rubber trees. That besides extracting Latex off the trees or grinding the trunk them extract the grindings to get the latex. Can you cook the Leaves and get the latex.

I've tried dreambuilder on minetest-0.4.13-this-friday-git and right away I got shadow under more trees bug :), also, what is funny, there is snow biome (tundra or taiga, don't know) and it contacts with water with tiny strip of sand... on which palm trees grow (suddenly!) :) minetest_game was 1 or 2 days old.

Problems with growing rubber trees. I started a new world and upon exploring i find the rubber tree and found a sapling, took it back to base and planted it but it has not grown at all still a sapling. I have not changed anything to the trees mod, I have even reinstalled it started a new world and they still wont grow. Other saplings will grow.
