Medieval England map [Medieval] v.0.3

by The_Critic » Mon Jan 04, 2016 13:45

ImageIts finally here!Medieval towns V.0.3.
Medieval towns is a map that is based on medieval architecture of western Europe in the mid medieval period. There are currently four towns which I have tried to build as historically accurate as I can. I have also tried to bring in some facts of medieval life, for example:Lower class villages or towns had less people that were educated and could read, therefore in those towns bookcases are less common. The map was built on mapgen V6 and without any additional add ons to make building easier.I would recommend you run minetest 0.4.12 or later because some of the mods are pretty new.Enjoy. : )
Mods used:
3d armour
Beer_test
Biome_lib
Bitchange
Castle
cottages
darkage
farming redo
fishing
Homedecor
hud_hunger
memorandum
moreslabs
Plantlife:flowers_plus & vines
throwing
torches

-->Do not worry, All the mods are included with the download (for your convenience.)

How to add the map and mods:
1.Download the .zip from the link below
2.unzip the file under minetest/worlds
3.go to minetest/worlds/Medieval and copy all the mods IN the folder "mods" and paste them in minetest/mods.If you already have some of the mods installed beforehand you do not have to copy them.
4.Go to the game and enjoy

and I recommend you try it with the John Smith texturepack

Fixes in v0.3:

most of the unknown nodes removed
Interiors added for all the current towns
extra signs added.
Ground below Oakheart and Hillfar filled

Plans for the future:

Possibly adding Wales and Scotland to the map.
Adding 5 new towns further apart from each other (In the England section )
Adding at least 3 More castles for 3 of the 5 new towns
Feel free to give suggestions , I might just use them (and give you credit for the idea of course.) : )

Oh yes. I also left out bookshelves in my medieval houses and villages due to them not really fitting in. It turned into a problem in AdventureTest where bookshelves are important game elements for increasing your skill. At least the church was a place where I could place a bookshelf...

My villages mod cannot create towns (as in: more structured villages with or without a city wall around), but still: Some of your houses might be useful in order to create new automatic villages. I'm waiting for the map to finish downloading :-)
A list of my mods can be found here.

Nice map!!!!
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.

Nice World ... Except wrong way to release a World. All required Mods should be in a "worldmod" directory under the worlds/[worldname]/ directory and "world.mt" should never have any mods listed in it - You do not know what mods I have installed so don't presume to list mods in "world.mt". Mods needed by your World may be different versions of the Mods I have with different results and vice-versa so don't screw up my Worlds.

Always check with just the default mods of the "minetest" game loaded in a clean install before releasing.

Other current problems include water flooding the towns - when creating a fountain use just the initial outflow as water source - do not fill the pool area with water source blocks as that will create an overflow and flooding.

That's all for now - still going through the World removing floods, what's the total number of Cities/fountains and their co-ords so I don't miss any.
