This mod adds diamonds to the game. These diamonds are very rare and create amazing tools.

Diamonds were added to the default game, however this mod adds a little more than just the basic diamonds. Plus there are different textures.

The Diamond Showcase:

The diamond showcase adds a decorative diamond when placed. It disappears when the showcase is dug.

Crafting for tools is like default.

Crafting for the ingot is D=Diamond S=Steel Ingot X=Nothing

Changelog
v1 Initial release
v2 Diamonds are now found in groups of 2 instead of 8.
v3 Added diamond and steel items (suggested by SegFault22)
v4 Added diamond garden.
v5 Diamond garden changed to diamond showcase. Diamonds are now incredibly rarer.
v6 Diamond showcase now has a stand for the diamond. Tools are more realistic.

Based on the poll you guys want different kinds of diamonds. This will come in the next update. With that, I have decided that some form of currency would be cool.

If you have any ideas to make this mod better please share!

Where can i find diamonds? Which level of depth ground?

They start at -300.

I need to make them less common. They currently spawn as 8 in one area. I'll fix that in a few minutes.
Edit: fixed! Now in 2 instead of 8.

maybe, for it to be more realistic, can you make it where that diamonds are crafted ''in'' steel ingots to make steel ingots with diamonds? So that it seems more real-like? You wouldn't just take diamonds and put them on a stick and hit rocks with it in hopes of breaking it, but embedding the diamonds in steel would make it strong and ''quicker''...
Example recipe:
_ D _
_ S _
_ D _
where _ = nothing, D = diamond, and S = steel ingot. Makes steel with diamonds.
Crafting would be the same, just replace diamonds with steel-with-diamonds. Tool textures/tooltips should (probably) stay the same as they are.
That would be awesome, and non-Minecraft-like.

Hmmm I could add diamond encrusted steel tools.

dude update this mod and make diamonds found more fast at 100 deep

The diamonds were meant to be rare, so they are deep.

Ooh, make diamonds generate very commonly in default:gravel and (maybe) default:dirt above +500Y - so if you find a sky island, you will be rewarded with the diamonds there :D

That's an interesting idea. The nest update will be out soon, just trying to make perfect textures. The next update will add a block that creates a diamond "garden" (or decoration, whatever you want to call it) that can only be removed when the block is destroyed. Code is done, textures I'm working on. Expect an update soon!

Realism may be served by an ABM that fires and (very rarely) turns coal at <-500 into diamonds. Just a thought :)
