Minecraft for Minetest

Minecraft for Minetest

Hello!
I am fairly new here, but before I came to join, I decided to work on a fork of Minetest!
I am not sure if it has been completed before, but the idea of this fork is to make Minetest EXACTLY like Minecraft.
This way, users who complain about Minetest being like older versions of Minecraft cannot complain anymore.
I will be editing this thread whenever the project is completed.

Information:
- Minetest will have all the left out features from Minecraft
- Minetest will be based off mods written by me, and the community (a list of credits will be given when finished)
- Closed project. I do not want any help. However, upon release, it will be uploaded to Github, for others to work on if they wish.

When will this be released?
Well, I plan on releasing this in early February. Because this has been worked on for a while now, it should not be much longer.

Upon release, the entire thread will be rewritten with: credits to mod creators from mods used, list of mods created by me, major modifications, screenshots, download link, github, screenshots and more
If you hide in the telnet, you will be found.
If you hide in Windows, you will be found.

Sounds good. I think that if you don't use any of MC's original textures, then it should be okay. (and you give proper credit to MT.)

It's not possible to make it exactly like Minecraft because we use Lua for mods and the Mainmenu.

But hopefully it looks very similar.

Nah, for 'looks very similar' we have overcraft, clonecraft and multicraft.
None of them has achieved similar game mechanics - only appearance.

No enchantments, XP, proper redstone mechanics, proper 3d armour, hunger, villages, mobs, the "end" (sky) dimension, bosses, NPCs etc etc.

Will you only use mods for this or will you also change the engine's source code?

In the first case, it is probably not neccessary to fork Minetest; releasing the work as a subgame would be enough.

And how exactly do you want to clone Minecraft? I bet there will be some limits to it.

Can't wait to hear about that too, Wuzzy! :)

I've been developing some MC features for nearly 10 months (during my spare time) and yet I'm far behind vanilla MC in many ways. I'm far ahead vanilla MC in some ways, though.
But I haven't tried to make a perfect clone, so I'm fine with the fact.

I hope he'd say smth like "it's in C++ and I'm already done and here's the sources licensed under LGPL 2+" )))
Chances are very low, though. ;)
