I have readed all wiki of lord of the rings but when i tried cook limestone so that did nothing. thanks

I don't seem to be seeing any junglegrass anywhere when I use this mod. It's possible I may not have found the biome where it grows so I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone knows anything. The main reason I'm asking about it is that there are several recipes (fishing poles and beds are the main two that come to mind) that require string or cotton. Since this mod already has mobs in it, I chose not to add mobf (sheep) and I'd really prefer not to add vines (they take over in certain areas). Is there any legitimate (in other words, without using creative mode) way with this mod to get cotton seed?

Well, it's a shame about the cotton (and junglewood) but I'm really enjoying this mod so far. I know it's a WIP but if the makers are looking for any feedback on what we'd like to see, I've got the following suggestions:
  • Text labels on focus for the mobs (like with signs in the default game). It's sometimes hard to keep friendly mobs straight from unfriendly mobs and it would be nice to know what you're looking-at.
  • Mob-spawning is a little too much at times. I've got an island and elves are regularly dropping from the trees. It's kind of comical. Not a real problem, just something that needs tweeking a little. Maybe make spawning rarer overall but increase it in race-specific villages (or forts or what have you).
  • It might be nice to interact with the mobs. Formspec interface like the traders use in MOBF for certain key characters, maybe?
  • Buildings for the various races. I'd get a kick out of seeing a hobbit village or a really, really huge elf tree (the kind you can walk inside) or maybe forts for the bad guys.
  • Armor would really be appreciated. I'm getting wiped in 3-4 hits. By the time I realize I'm under attack or if I've been traveling, by the time the game "catches up" and it actually registers that I'm trying to hit a baddie, it's a little too easy to get killed.
  • Race/class selection when you first log-in to a new world. Of course, the race selection would determine which mobs are hostile and which ones are friendly.

You folks are off to a great start. This has been my favorite game-level mod so far.

Oh, forgot to mention... I really like that v7 mapgen in this game. Tried it on a vanilla world got got stone-covered terrain. Dunno what the difference is here but the landscape is gorgeous!

The mapgen v7 in here is using a (heavily) modified version Paramat's paragen v7, which adds biomes to mapgen v7. In vanilla, it is currently just stone, but biomes will be added at a later date... See here: https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?id=8654

Seconded. I had to turn damage off as i was totally being swarmed by what I assume to be dunlendings.

I noticed an oddity today. I'm not sure if it is intentional or not. I found that if I craft an ore block (like lead or silver, et cetera), you can't craft the block back into ingots. Was this an intentional feature of the mod?

This happens anytime I attack this particular mob. Now, I'm not sure if I'm reading this debug correctly but it looks like every hit is increasing it's hitpoints instead of decreasing them until I reach some sort of threshold where it suddenly drops to zero.

Also, the crafting recipe is the same for the steel dagger and the screwdriver. The dagger wins-out in my game so the only way i'm able to get a screwdriver is to go into creative.

Lastly, I cannot seem to dig pearls. I can see the ore in sand but when I dig it, I just get sand. I've tried using a shovel as well as bare hands. Am I digging it incorrectly?

Like what AMMOnym said, the green man is the undead men, he is technically a ghost so you can't harm him so he gets more health the more powerful you hit him, only way to destroy him is sunlight. Eventually, if you hit him crazy amount of time, it will have crazy amount of health so it is so huge, that the game overload and therefore a crash. It is not really intended but so far i haven't find a fix for it yet, so just take it as revenge from the dead men :P.

Nope, no unknown item.

Also, how much sunlight is necessary to kill the ghosts? I have a shft that's about 200m deep but the top was open to the sky. The ghosts didn't seem affected, even though the entire length of the shaft was lit-up. I'm assuming there's some sort of diffusion effect but I don't know.

Now, I've got another recommendation: I crafted several chests with the Mallorn planks and got normal-looking chests and got to thinking that it would be interesting if the different wood-types crafted different looking doors and chests. Just thought I'd chuck the idea out for consideration.

Sunlight is light source 15 (i think). i dug a 213 block deep shaft, and the ghost didn't get killed at the bottom of it, not sure why (maybe like what you said, the diffusion effect). The deepest the ghost will be killed by sunlight is -30 when i tested it out. Anyways a weapon to kill them will be coming out later, and instead of them spawning randomly in caves, they will most likely spawn in a structure in the next few versions.

No. Not any of your guesses. And I very much doubt that it will be compatible with 1.4.8, but it will probably work with 0.4.8, but I'm not sure.

Competition
We are organizing a competition for lord of the rings structures.
Anyone is welcomed to submit your entries.
The reward is seeing your structure spawn in the mapgen of Lord of the Test later on.
Submit your entries as .we files or .mts files.
Read the rules before submitting:
Rules
  1. Your Building must be related to Lord of the Rings in some way.
  2. Do not submit huge buildings, we are requesting for small or medium buildings.
  3. Use default minetest game materials or materials in Lord of the Test, do not use blocks/ stuff from other mods to build your structure.
  4. Submission must be .we files or .mts files, don't give a whole world file.
  5. Maximum of 3 entries is allowed for a person, any other entries wouldn't be considered.
Submit your entries below with a attachment. Good luck to winning the competition.
The Deadline is 25th of March, 2014, Amaz will announce the winners whose work(s) is/are selected.

I'm looking forward to the update. Got a pretty good idea what the green bar is but if I'm right, I don't wanna spoil the surprise. I'll just leave it that I'm thinking I see related items in the tool bar.

Okay, I think that this is a problem with 0.4.8 and the mod... And the next version definitely doesn't work in 0.4.8, sorry. I'm very doubtful that the you have pointed out will be fixed, as it doesn't appear in the latest dev version (and I presume 0.4.9), as I know I can't be bothered to make a separate branch of the mod that works in oldish versions. Sorry.
Are you using the modpack or the gamemode? The modpack might work, as the bug appears to be with a function that wasn't implemented in 0.4.8. But the next release doesn't work in 0.4.8 at all. (The mod doesn't even load.)

The error above will only happen when using 0.4.8 & below as hacky_swap_node is changed into minetest.swap_node in 0.4.9. Therefore a nil value will be given as minetest.swap_node doesn't exist in 0.4.8. To prevent that error from occuring just use 0.4.9 or 0.4.9 dev or another method will be to replace the default minetest_game mods in LOTT game into 0.4.8 minetest_game mods.
The error only occurs in gamemode as only the default mod & doors mod uses minetest.swap_node which both of them are absent in the modpack.
For the next version, it will definitely have the same error if you use 0.4.8, so it is required for you to switch to 0.4.9 or 0.4.9 dev to use the next version.
