Transform player model

by Gael de Sailly » Mon Jun 29, 2015 06:40

I've discovered that we can change, not only the textures of a player, but also its model. And I wondered if someone has already made a mod that make the player able to transform itself.
We can put several meshes (the default one with cape, or with hat, a girl, an obese, and why not animals ?), and a skins mod that propose several player textures for every mesh.

Or we can also imagine a sorcery mod, that make possible to temporarily transform someone, for example into frog, with decreased capacities (useful for PvP, or maybe used by a witch mob).

What do you think about it ?
Very busy this year too, so do not expect me to be very active on the forum or in game. But I'm not about to drop Minetest forever :)

sounds nice, especially the cape idea.
but i think it would be even better if the cape was a piece of equipment.
the 3D Armor Mod has 6 Armor slots, but only 5 armor pieces.
if the 6th piece were capes that give the player special abilities, that would be awesome :D

Transforming the mesh is what the creatures mod does. It allows you to possess animals and humans.

I haven't noticed this. I thought it just add creatures.

I was thinking to the default model, which has a cape, but it's not beautiful.
We can improve this cape and, why not, add special abilities that depends on the cape.
Good idea !

A mod like this would be fun for more player customization.

Good for those who may want non-human models to match personas we have, I already know of some people here who my want animal based ears, tails, muzzles, wings, etc. for their player models. I for one would like to add some robot parts to my player model (an antenna, power pack, and power cord) to go with my custom skin.

This is how my cars mod works.

It's also fun to turn random players into travelnet boxes.

I use the mod Player_Models for this. Still trying to figure out how to animate characters that are binded to the keys though.
