[16x] LT-WarmNCrisp (overhauled default textures)

by lordtoran » Thu Aug 20, 2015 00:02

First post of a long time lurker :)

I created a texture pack, basically as a byproduct of creating and tinkering with mod processing scripts.

The default textures in Minetest do the job but they are IMO very plain, undetailed and slightly oversaturated. Foremost they lack contrast, and the lack of atmospheric visual effects doesn't really help creating any form of visual immersion while exploring the world. Warm'n'Crisp tries to cover that up a bit by means of

  • color temperature adjusted to a warmish 5200K (think of a late summer afternoon).
  • advanced sigmoidal contrast enhancement.
  • slight reduction in color saturation.
  • and everybody's darling, unsharp mask, to accentuate details.

All done with a set of scripts, so the pack supports a load of mods, and more can be added at any time.

Enough geek talk. Screenies.

Please look at the texture pack's README for a list of the (52!) so far supported mods, and details regarding the content licensing of the mods.

License of the pack is CC-BY-SA 4.0.

Very nice! I think I'm gonna use this as my texture pack of choice from now on :)

Thanks. I'll tinker some more and maybe churn out more texture packs, as I basically only have to swap out filters in a script and rebuild everything.
