A texture pack overrides the item textures from the default game and some additional mods.

For those who are having issues getting downloads - you can always try to convert the latest version yourself with mcresconvert:

1) download the v1.9 version here:
http://resourcepack.net/john-smith-legacy-resource-pack/
2) get mcresconvert:
https://github.com/sofar/mcresconvert
(needs linux, zenity, imagemagick, unzip)

If you see any conversion issues, send bugreports to me (through the mcresconvert github page).

People who use very recent minetest 0.4.13-dev will notice squishy texture of grass, that is because it is now scaled to square, and since 32x320 format is for animated version, which it is not, it should be cropped to 32x32, to save a trouble for you, copy this to your John Smith texture pack and overwrite the old file with fixed one.
You can also use this file with old minetest, it will work fine.

Also, if you use mcresconvert, few blocks will need to be fixed because of this animation textures, iirc it is gold, diamond, etc. Fixable by crop.

Its been a long wait for the last update, but the John smith texture pack now supports minutest 0.4.14!

all of the blocks for default game should be supported (apart from two items from the vessels mod. )

hope you all enjoy the update

The names for default grass are in the wrong order. default_grass_1 is the tallest, default_grass_5 is the smallest

burli: default_grass_1 is typically the same image as grass_3 as this places a random grass 2-5... it ranges smallest to biggest grass_2 to grass_5

really? Looks wrong for me. Just compare grass with dry grass. dry grass is correct from my point of view, although dry_grass_1 and dry_grass_2 should be swapped too. grass_1 should be the smallest, grass_5 the tallest

The mossy cobblestone texture is not seamless to the other cobblestones, but I'm not sure why
