Why does Mese look like ruby?

An advice of precaution: use that player skin in single player only.

I'm here not to intimidate anyone.

But Micro$oft guys are very persistent when it comes to something they've "created".
That includes "Steeve" character (albeit Notch didn't agree with that name, M$ did).
They treat servers and software with that skin as an attempt to compromise Minecraft.

It does not matter for them that this is actually a different image made by a different person.
Those are the images of one and the same game character.


Be warned == be equipped ;)

You can use GIMP to easily change the color of tools, minerals ect. to match the mintest textures. For example, you can change the ruby texture yellow very easily so that it looks like mese.

Originally, I replaced mesecons with rubies because of two reasons:

1. Minecraft players would think that mese is gold because of its color.
2. Mesecons is Minetest's version of redstone, which is normally red.

Neither. Do what you want; its your time going into the process.

IMHO, this is Minetest, so you should cater to those players. But in the end, it's your choice.
When I've converted Minecraft texture packs to Minetest, I've made the mese texture a lime-yellow type color. It is rather easy to tell the two minerals apart, plus the fact that mese blocks and ore glow in the dark.

EDIT: Oops, I forgot Minetest has gold. I'll fix the mese textures soon.

EDIT 2: Added new textures for Mese (except for tools because gold doesn't have tools).

Are you serious? The movement in Minetest is waaaaay better than in Minecraft. Minecraft is super squishy. Tbh it is one of the main reasons why I converted to Minetest ^^

Actually with edited FOV it looks better.
Add this line: "FOV = 107" to your "minetest.conf"!
And enjoy! :D
