So I was on youtube and saw this Minetest Piano building guide (pretty cool should check it out) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbeRd7qGhTw And thought someone should make a Piano mod.

MT doesn't have Client-side-Lua. This means mods are dealt with at the server side. A piano mod, could work, but this would be an issue. There would be a large delay for servers. Basically, it'd only work very well on singleplayer, or LAN. Second, it'd be pretty hard to hit the right key :P

Still would be a neat idea.

Actually, xdecor by jp has a chess board which does not lag. why not a piano then.

Well, actually recognize keyboard is hard, also i don't know if playing sounds can lag a bit... Also a piano justly show up too much stuff, and to play a good song the game can lag a bit.

There's no pitch modulation parameter on sound_play so each sound would have to be its own.. pretty limiting.....

That being said, not impossible to envisage..... hmm....

/me cracks knuckles

Mesecons has noteblocks. Tuned sound is possible.

Then make the piano be programable with somekind of "Musical Programming Language"!

I came across this page today and feel it is relevant to share. Perhaps similar implementation with the chords already added as sounds and various instruments playing them would be easiest. And then perhaps individual notes too. What if you even had labeled blocks for like C and G for example and when you left click them they make a sound? Maybe they could even be mini nodes so you can more placed together so they are easier to hit. With mesecon + delayers you could potentially even play a simple song.

Here is the webpage, quite awesome I think!

Here is a minecraft implimentation:

In my opinion a good music player for minetest is more important. I know there are some mods available, I still have to test them. The player could create them in Jamstudio and add them to minetest through the music player :) DANCE PARTIES :D

Take care.
