Sneak LIKE IN MINECRAFT

Hi, If u got any ideas about sneak , like sit down and stand up , like in minecraft , post it here!

Our goal here is not to be like Minecraft.
But I do agree we could use a better sneak/crouch animation. I know a little about 3D modeling and animation, so I don't think that would be too hard to do (please correct me if I'm wrong someone). It would also be nice if sneaking hid your name tag, but that's a lot harder to do.

It would be cool to have a sitting animation for mods that have chairs.

There is actually a sitting animation (mods like X-Decor and Cozy make use of it)

anyways i think that Minetest should be original, or then some members will start to say we want to be like MC!

Anyways, i (potato) in really think at least is better polish the sneak animations and give some useful function besides don't fall of blocks!

I really like the idea of being able to fit through 1 block tunnels and really hope that is implemented some day (in the long run, ideally alongside a generalized player/mob API like what Mircea Kitsune mentioned).

Sneaking in Minecraft actually works a bit differently; it's used to prevent the player from falling off of the sides of blocks. It also hides the player's nametag so people can't see them behind walls. Technically it also reduces the chance of a player being spotted by mobs, but the effect is negated by armor, so it's mostly useless. The block fall prevention is probably what snowflake was referring to.

No. I just derped. I figured Minetest already had a sneak function and subconsciously didn't see the point of adding anything else, so this thread subconsciously made me doubt the existence of sneaking in Minetest. I mentioned those other sneaking mechanics mostly as potential inspiration. I always wear armor and avoid Minecraft PvP like the plague, so the other aspects of Minecraft sneaking are useless to me. But stealth in a survival environment would be really cool if it was done right.

that is a good function, but i will like a lot more, it works to be invisible!
