FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

I mean the menu that pops up when you press ESC,
with the buttons for Continue/Sound volume/Change Keys/Exit,
and the textboxes about build-info (version, etc.) and the default controls.

It would be nice if this dialog would also show some more useful info, e.g.
* Welcome-text for the current game / Server-Rules
* List of active mods
* Info-text about each mod
* Same for items/textures/mobs etc.
* Stats (map-generator used, days running, number of players, activity...)

Maybe this also needs a standard way/place for authors
to provide that info within the game (as opposed to forum/wiki/git).
