It would be nice to use [Shift] button not to descend the ladder but to keep holding it (e.g., when trying to reach some stone with ore) and not to fall. Like working on the floor/ground.

For example, let:

• [W] (forward) will ascend the ladder
• [S] (back) will descend the ladder
• pressing [Shift] (sneak) will keep you holding the ladder
• [Space] (jump) do nothing being on ladder

Isn't there already a thread called Minetest's Horrible Controls, in which this issue is discussed? Why do we need an entire topic devoted to changing the keyboard bindings just for ladders?
