You can change the textures by yourself. I would rather not drive some people away due to a different texture pack.

I was thinking along the lines of BlockMen's MTP pack. Something not too far away from default whatsoever.

Yes, I do like BlockMen's texture pack, but Hybrid Dog's does show some usefulness.

This will come in very handy! Tells you when you are near dead, and gives you a constant reminder of your health..

Summary of recent changes:
  • Added golden armour and shields; made armour weaker to attacks and disabled armour healing by default.
  • Added a server-side xray setting, useful for modders or to find nice dungeons.
  • Many renewed textures, like stone, sand, clay, papyrus, book, bookshelf…
  • New textures for wooden tools and sword; these ones also now last as long as stone tools and sword.
  • Mobs float in water; sheeps can be fed wheat to regain 3 HP; play a sound when shearing sheep.
  • Added hay blocks using facedir, crafted with 9 wheat.
  • Coin ores generate at any height; added patches of dirt, gravel, sand and cobblestone underground; added large clusters of coal, iron and very rarely, diamond.
  • Tweaked GUI looks: highlighted slots are easier to see, tooltip background is now black.
  • Snow is now non-walkable.

hmm - I always dreamt of some sort of craftable x-ray/noclip goggles for the advanced miner ;-)
maybe similar in effect to how burying oneself with noclip on but not freemove used to work.

Some changes done the last week:
  • Strongly reduce server CPU, RAM and bandwidth usage by tweaking the settings.
  • Mob fixes: they jump higher, spawn better and a possible fix to monsters not attacking players has been added.
  • Add soccer by kaeza (not so useful as a default mod, so it may go away) and jumping (trampolines and cushions) by Jeija, both tweaked.
  • Add 15 paintings, craftable with 8 sticks and 1 wool of any colour.
  • Add a sound when eating, prevent over-heal when eating.
  • Add 3D ladders and 3D signs, both using only 1 nodebox for good performance.
  • Snow has a smoother and brighter texture.
  • Give 5 torches per craft. Lots of code cleanups.

After 2014-06-28:

  • Tweak ABM times and plant growth in general, fix jungle tree drop.
  • Slightly rarer rat spawns.
  • Reduced food healing values.
  • Add tar, which is made by smelting gravel; add grey bricks (crafted using 1 brick block and 1 stone or stone brick) and alternate split stone tiles (crafted using 1 stone tile).

Just saw you moved to gitorious, great move.

But i wished i knew it earlier.

You could update the github repo so the game displays a message if the user logs into the game.

I downloaded the latest version from gitorious.
copied into my .mintest/games folder named carbone
created a new world, tried to load it, and got the following:

You need a newer version of minetest. It uses a feature that was added after 0.4.9. You could take on of the unofficial builds if you use windows, or compile it yourself if you use linux.

Hello, guys!

Can someone help me out with getting this sub-game to run, please? I seem to can't get past the initial stage of the world. Often times, I get to see the inventory and hear the sound of my foot on sand. On some tries however, I can't get into the world and get an exception error. Here are my specs for your perusal:

Minetest verion: The updated version by Blockmen. I think it's still 0.4.9, but he added Minetest Next along with it. Ergo, I believe that there might be some additional features integrated into it.
Windows: Win7 x64 SP0
RAM: 4GB
GPU: It's a Dell N4050 laptop. I forget what the GPU is called, but I think it's an Intel switchable GPU.

I do have a screenshot of the error, and have uploaded it as well.

I really like the mod but the 3D object looks just weird (not like a sane football), i think it is better to make mono coloured balls which also had the advantage that you don't need a spinning animation.

My version was only a few weeks old! You are programming bleeding edge. :)
Updated to the freshest (actually, added the daily build ppa to my list), and now it works fine!

The ban privilege is generally given to server moderators.

But doesn’t “ban” mean, well, banning people? Why throw two completely different things (banning people and posting global anonymous messages) into the same bucket?

I may add another privilege just for “say”, but then I'll end up with dozens of privileges laying around, flooding the screen for people who have all privileges and typing /privs.

Coins have no purpose currently. It's unknown if they'll have any use some day, due to balance issues, but maybe each kind of coin will allow you to buy upgrades (something like copper = jump, silver = speed, gold = gravity).

I can't make bronze ingots anymore. I don't know if this was a planned change or if something got accidentally deleted. I have made a bronze sword and pickaxe in the past and went to make a new pickaxe when my old one ran out but couldn't.

EDIT: Of course, I post about this issue and then go to the repository and see that it has been changed on July 4th, today. Oh well, thanks. :)

I highlighted on the first post you should use copper and tin, not copper and iron. Finally a recipe that makes sense. ;)

Tin looks like silver, but is darker and slightly blue-green. The colour is close to stone's, it's not easy to see, except if you use a different texture pack than the default.

It can be found at any height but is rarer than iron. It can't be found in desert stone, unlike coal and copper.

I am using a texture pack and it does support the more_ores mod. If the tin you are using comes from that it is nearly white against the stone texture and is easily seen. Just haven't found any more so far.

The textures for the frames of glass and obsidian glass aren't showing up.

More Ores isn't supposed to be used at the same time as Carbone, if you really want it, disable tin and silver generation in the mod. Else, you have duplicate tin and silver.

Be sure to use a recent build of Minetest (dated after 2014-06-29). If you're using Carbone Textures, update it, it has been updated on 2014-07-05 in order to work with the new glass.

It should look like that.

However, if you're playing on a server which uses a game other than Carbone and with Carbone Textures, glass will have no frame. I'm not sure if I should change this, I think frame-less glass is nice too.
