Today this will be my last post, so I feel like I need to explain a few things.
First: I had a good time with Minetest, much fun and leared a lot of stuff. So I wan't to say thanks,
especially to celeron55. Also for being part of the core developers team, which ment also a lot to me.
Ok, now to the not so fun part, why I'm leaving:
Minetest became more and more something I felt moves to wrong directions, one day it was an engine only and everything
had to be "generalized" and "flexible", the other day we were a "Minecraft like" game, and things went in from that direction,
even if it was done in an ugly way or very "hackish".
The fun and the "nearly" endless options this project gave me first, became more and more confusing and
my frustation was continous growing. Furthermore I think in the core dev team personal affectivities were very
often a point that blocked things, at least it felt often for me that way.
Another point of frustration is for me the "modding community", so a few mod developers around here.
This whole project and its mods are open source, yes, but some ppl behave just like assholes.
They took code of me without giving credit, while I spend sometimes a lot time to develop polished and/or new features.
Even more bitter it was when features I implemented first and published got not even noticed and those ppl that
copied it got the attention for it.
That behavior made me change my licenses to more and more restrictive ones, ending up in a modiefied z-lib license at the end.
But even this didn't stop some ppl and even though I still angry on some I won't tell names.
Summing up: Minetest, a hobby for me which got sometimes very time consuming, became something I felt more and more
frustrated about and took the fun for me. So after trying to solve this by taking pauses or to fork I decided now to stop this
and to leave Minetest.
I wish the best for this project, but it's not mine anymore.
Greetings, BlockMen
